This guide is for anyone choosing a custom pet blanket for themselves or as a gift. Numbers on a screen are hard to picture, so below you will find each size matched to real places in a home: the sofa, the bed, the dog bed and the wall.
What sizes do custom pet blankets come in?
Our woven pet blankets come in Small, Medium and Large. Each size can carry your pet's portrait and name, with up to 3 pets on one blanket. Here is how they compare in everyday use.

How big is a throw blanket?
Most throw blankets are about 50" x 60", which is the size of our Medium. That is a little over 4 feet by 5 feet. It drapes over the back of a sofa, covers one adult curled up for a movie, or folds neatly over the arm of a chair.
Our Small, at 52" x 37", is a lap throw. It is the one people sometimes picture as bigger than it is. Think of it as a blanket for one person sitting down, or for a pet's own spot, rather than something to sleep under.
Our Large, at 80" x 60", is closer to a bed blanket. It is big enough for two people sharing the sofa, or to lie flat across the top of a bed.
What size blanket is best for a couch, bed or dog bed?
Match the size to where the blanket will spend most of its time. Here is a quick guide for each spot.
For a sofa or couch
Medium is the easy pick. It drapes over the back of a sofa with the portrait facing the room, and it is big enough to pull over your legs in the evening. If two of you share the sofa every night, go Large.
For a bed
A queen mattress is 60" x 80", so our Large covers the top of a queen almost exactly, and it covers a full mattress too. On a king bed, lay the Large across the foot of the bed, where the 80" side spans the width. A Medium also looks lovely folded at the foot of any bed.
For a dog bed, crate or pet's chair
Small is the right size here. It covers a large dog bed or the top of a crate, and it folds in half for smaller beds. It is also a good fit for the armchair a cat has claimed.
For a lap or armchair
Small covers one person sitting in a chair, from lap to toes. For a reading chair or a desk chair on cold mornings, it is just enough without piling up on the floor.
For a wall hanging
Small and Medium both work well on a wall. A Small fits above a console table or in a hallway. A Medium makes a centerpiece above a sofa or headboard. Hang it with a tapestry rod or wooden clips so the weave hangs flat.
What size should I get for two or three pets?
For two pets, choose Medium or Large. For three pets, Large gives each face the most room. You can still put two or three pets on a Small, but each portrait will be smaller, so it suits a wall or a lap more than a bed.

How can I picture the size before I order?
The simplest way is to measure the spot and mark it. It takes two minutes and saves any surprise when the box arrives.
- Measure the place it will live. The back of the sofa, the top of the bed, or the dog bed.
- Mark the size with painter's tape on the sofa, bed or wall. Stand back and look.
- Try a blanket you already own. Measure it and compare. Many sofa throws are close to our Medium.
- Think about who will use it. One person, two people, or a pet.
